Hugely popular no-dig pioneer Charles Dowding gave a talk yesterday at the Bowburn Community Centre in January 2018 as part of his northern tour.

Growing Durham were delighted to welcome about 150 people from all around County Durham and beyond, all interested to learn how they can avoid the annual ritual of back-breaking digging and create healthy and productive gardens based on organic principles by covering beds with a think layer of well-made compost.

As one allotment holder remarked in the car park afterwards “there must be loads of people doing this if you’re touring the country with this talk – I’m convinced!”. You can learn more about Charles Dowding and his innovative methods at his website which includes some very helpful film clips.
