Food Durham’s Sustainable Fish City Campaign achieves 4 Stars

Fish City

Food Durham’s Sustainable Fish City Campaign has achieved 4 Stars – just one short of becoming recognised as a Sustainable Fish City. Durham City is only the second city in the UK to be awarded 4 stars, only Bournemouth and Poole have been accredited with full Sustainable Fish City Status.

We celebrated this achievement with the support of the Deputy Mayor of Durham, Cllr Bill Moir, at a mini-conference in Durham City Town Hall on 1st July where we explored the topic of Sustainable Local Food Procurement for the Public Sector.

The Campaign requires local businesses, schools and public sector providers to pledge to only serve sustainable fish. More information about the campaign, and to see who has signed in Durham, go to: http://www.sustainweb.org/sustainablefishcity/whos_working_on_it/.

We only require a few more workplaces (with staff canteens) to join us in order to quality for our 5th and final star!
