This is an exciting and unique opportunity to lead a new and innovative local food supply chain project in County Durham.
The Food Hub will link local producers with businesses wanting to buy local food (hotels, restaurants, cafés etc) enabling a single point of ordering for businesses and an easier route to market for producers. We are working with a well-established wholesale food distributor who will be responsible for logistics and operational administration. Employed by Durham Community Action, you will be based in Low Willington, but working right across County Durham. This post will be offered on a fixed term contract for 2 years and 9 months, and the anticipated start date is January 2017. The Food Hub is a project of Food Durham, the County Durham Food Partnership, which is hosted by Durham Community Action.
As Food Hub Manager you will be responsible for the overall management and development of the project, working with both suppliers and buyers to build up new business and providing support with marketing, brand development and quality criteria.
