Growing Durham can support you in a number of ways:
- Working with you to look at different approaches to community growing projects and identify what will work for you
- Identifying suitable land and advising on infrastructure
- Linking you with others who are doing similar things
- Generally supporting anything you are doing to enable more people in your communities to grow food
There is a whole range of growing projects in County Durham. Some of them are long-established and some of them are just starting, many of them would welcome volunteers. To see what’s going on in your area you can check out this map, which we will try and keep updated. For more information about those projects, please contact us via the links above.
Big Dig – 21 April 2018
A range of projects are taking part in The Big Dig on Saturday 21 April 2018 and the week after, and will be welcoming new volunteers to come and help in their garden for a day (or more!). The Big Dig was set up by Sustain, the alliance for better food and farming, to encourage areas like ours to hold events to promote edible gardens and tempt people to volunteer in them. You will be able to find out about participating gardens on our events page soon.
