Mel has had a long time interest in local and natural foods. Her involvement with the food project developed when she was working for Durham County Council as the Strategic Manager for Healthier Communities. She joined the Steering Group for the Sustainable Local Food Strategy project and became a very active and enthusiastic member. Her previous experience was in the area of social care and she now works as a manager for the United Reformed Church. She brings a wealth of skills and experience to the Board including people and project management, analysis and writing skills. Her garden is full of raised beds growing vegetables and fruit.
