For all of us Christmas this year promises to be rather different than Christmases past and many people will be struggling to put food on the table. We find this year that the poorest communities have been hardest hit by the pandemic.

To help people find emergency access to food over Christmas Durham County Council’s Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Alliance is putting together a list of food provision over the Christmas holidays.  The information is available in hard copy and as an app which will get updated as more information becomes available. You can find links both to the app and the pdf of the info here.

IF YOU RUN ANY FORM OF FOOD PROVISION OVER THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS AND WANT TO SHARE YOUR INFORMATION THROUGH THIS CHANNEL, PLEASE FILL IN THE SHORT FORM HERE AND SEND IT TO vcsalliance@durham.gov.uk.

You might not be involved in community food provision but still want to make a contribution. You can leave donations to food banks in many local supermarkets, you might be able to volunteer with a local food project or you can make a financial contribution to one of the local food banks, like those run by the Durham Christian Partnership.
